ABOUT OLPH SCHOOL

Our Lady of Perpetual School is centrally-located in Riverside, California, on the corner of Central Ave. and Streeter Ave.  Enrollment is open to all who desire to attend the school, whether they are registered in the school's parish or not.

Our school offers an environment that is both faith-filled and solidly academic. WASC-accredited instruction is offered for kindergarten through eighth grade. OLPH preschool maintains a choice of full-day or half-day instruction, and is available for children age 3 and above.

Twice-a-week computer instruction is provided in a state-of-the-art computer lab.  Physical education is offered twice a week as part of the curriculum.  Our junior high curriculum includes foreign language instruction.

A before-school and after-school daycare program is also available for all grades, with a flexible structure to meet the needs of working parents. OLPH offers separate daycare facilities for the preschool and early primary school students to meet their special needs.  After the first grade, students integrate into the child care for the older children.

Our students may participate in the Inland Catholic Schools League sports programs, including basketball for boys and girls, volleyball for girls, and flag football for boys. Parent volunteers serve as coaches, and most practices are conveniently held on the school campus after classes.

After school, teachers and parent volunteers team up to offer students a choice of extracurricular arts experiences, including drama, choir, piano, drum-line and guitar. The yearbook is created with the help of a team of Jr. High students and their computer skills.  Scouting troops are also active on campus.

A student council is elected every year.  This group of students conduct the morning assembly, with members leading prayer recitations and Bible readings, the Pledge of Allegiance, and general announcements.  They also help to host special events, run the student store, etc.

OLPH has an active Parent-Teacher organization.  Besides raising money for improvements in the school, our PTO hosts a variety of fun family activities, like a free monthly family movie night, pasta feasts, a very successful “jogathon”, a monthly pizza lunch, etc.

An elected school board advises the OLPH administration on school policies. There is a school hot-lunch program for parents who choose it, providing a choice of healthy selections throughout the year.

A newly-renovated library helps our children begin their life-long love of reading.  Our students celebrate several fun events during the year, inviting their parents to attend the talent show and the Christmas program with them.

Above all, as a Catholic Christian school, our faith in Jesus Our Savior is central to all our work, be it academic, athletic, artistic or worship. Just as Jesus taught us the virtues of faith, hope and charity in word and example, we accept the responsibility to follow the example of Jesus in our role as a school.  As an institution of faith, it is our charter to instill faith, social and moral responsibility, diligence, and integrity in our students, preparing them spiritually as well as academically for what the future holds.

The K-8 classes attend weekly Mass.  Preschoolers attend Mass monthly.  Our older students are paired with younger students, sitting alongside them at Mass, serving as their prayer partners.  OLPH’s students also prepare and host weekly Mass and Mass once a month with the parish community

OLPH offers preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion within the curriculum of first and second grade, and also prepares those older students wishing to make their First Communion.

Our students volunteer as altar servers for school Masses and Sunday Masses.  They collect canned and packaged food to donate to the food pantry for the needy, and adopt a family to provide gifts at Christmas. They have partnered with the Elks Club to send letters to our men and women stationed in the military.  OLPH students also share their time and skills with other students in the peer tutoring.

We are proud of our school!  We are proud of our students, our staff, and our parents!  Come see how OLPH can provide your kids the education they deserve!
