Ms. Karen Warner, OLPH's fifth grade teacher, continues her popular and affordable piano lessons before and after school for any student interested. The cost is $30/month. Lessons take place in the fifth-grade classroom, before and after school, with lessons given individually, or in pairs for the younger students.

Returning students may select the same day and times from last year, or they may change their time to reflect their new schedules.

At year end, piano students perform in a recital, which is typically held at the Riverside Elks Club (an organization that has been very supportive of the school and its development of the arts programs.) Our piano students also show up in all sorts of places, like at the talent show performing solo, or in the Christmas program. Ms. Warner's students have accompanied drumline, and some have even accompanied the choir in Mass.

Note that students will be signed out by Ms. Warner from after-school care for their half-hour lesson. They will not be charged for extended care during the lesson, but will be charged for their time spent in extended care before and after the lesson.

Families are encouraged to retain, purchase or borrow a keyboard or piano at home so students can practice. Be mindful about the key width. Mini-keyboards are not a good idea for practice, because the students learn to play on a full-sized piano.
