STUDENT COUNCIL
The purpose of Student Council is to promote patriotism and school spirit, to allow students to have input and to take the initiative in leadership, to promote good citizenship, and to encourage a high standard of scholarship. Ms. Donna Nurre is the Student Council Advisor.
Every spring, a new Student Council is elected by the students who will be attending grades 4-8. Candidates have their petitions signed by a minimum number of students. They prepare speeches and give them to the student body. Students vote for the desired candidates in each of the following offices:
- School President
- School Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Commissioner of Safety
- Commissioner of Liturgy
- Commissioner of Athletics
- Commissioner of Ecology
- Commissioner of Publicity
- Parish Liaison
In the fall, class representatives from grades 4-8 are chosen by their class. A School/Parish Liaison is also chosen from those who apply, appointed by the Administration and the Student Council Advisor
Students follow Parliamentary Procedures to conduct their meetings. Out of these meetings come innovative ideas from the student representatives, including recycling, charity and fund-raising initiatives. Earth Week and Red Ribbon Week are organized with the help of the Student Council.
