STUDENT ACTIVITIES
OLPH offers students a huge assortment of activities that help to expand each student's horizons.

These activities include: academic, competitions such as the diocesan and county Science Fair, the spelling bee, or the Diocesan essay contest, music, drama, dance, choir, sports, service to the community and the needy, yearbook, altar serving, leadership through the student council, liturgical dance, lectors, comedy skits, field trips to missions, museums and farms, a visit by a planetarium, etc.

EXTRA EXTRA CURRICULAR
OLPH - READY TO ROCK AND ROLL

INQUIRE ABOUT OLPH's EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, and then, SIGN THE KIDS UP!

  • Piano Classes - Ms. Warner (5th grade teacher) before and after school
  • Choir - Mrs. Sintek (2nd grade teacher) after school
  • Drumline - Mr. Varga (honorable alumnae parent)
  • Guitar Classes - Ms. Nancy
  • Drama - Mrs. Tenango (4th grade teacher) and Mrs. Lord (Kindergarten Teacher)
  • Boy's Sports - Mr. Strickland (7th grade teacher coordinator) - Run by parent volunteers - have included basketball, football and track.
  • Girl's Sports - Mr. Strickland (7th grade teacher coordinator) - Run by parent volunteers - have included basketball, volleyball and track.
  • Scouts - Inquire in the office about joining a group of Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts affiliated with the school or Diocese.
  • Talent Show and Christmas Program, brought to you by the whole staff with an extra measure of "CUTE!" by Ms. Laura Hopper of Preschool Fame.
  • Movie Nights - Munchies and Free Movies - Bring a chair and enjoy the evening air.
  • Spiritual Activities - Our Children participate as Altar Servers, and even the tiny Kindergarteners will lector at Mass near the end of the year!  Because the school integrates religious education in its course of study, your children may participate in preparation for First Communion and Reconciliation during their studies at OLPH.
  • And the End-of-the-Year Picnic??? Don't get me started... Enough food and water ballons for an army.
  • Field Trips - Every year, each class attends age-appropriate field trips.  These may include a California Mission (typically San Juan Capistrano), historical sites or historical re-enactments, plays are Riverside Community College, The Museum of Tolerance, etc.
  • Student Council - Formation of Leaders starts early at OLPH.  Our Student Council hosts all of the morning assemblies, leading the students in PRAYER, BIBLICAL READINGS, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE, NATIONAL ANTHEM, and school announcements. 
  • Student Store, Nacho Sales - Classroom reps work with the adults to sell items during recess.
  • Weekly donut sale.  As a treat, each class donates donuts about twice a year to sell at recess every Wednesday except during Lent and Advent. 
  • Students collect cans for the needy families, pull tabs to raise money for the families of cancer patients at Ronald McDonald House, and gifts for needy families they adopt at Christmas, as well as participating in activities for Catholic charitable groups like the Holy Child Association. 
  • OLPH has been adopted by the Elks Club (on Brockton Ave, Riverside) this year.  The Elks Club provides scholarships for students all over the U.S., and is partnering with OLPH when they present programs, fund-raisers, etc.
