ARE YOUR KIDS GETTING THE QUALITY CHRISTIAN EDUCATION THEY DESERVE?
Our Lady of Perpetual Help School just received its 6-year accreditation from WASC, receiving kudos for its excellent teaching staff and parental involvement. OLPH provides your child with an outstanding education by dedicated teachers in a warm and nurturing environment. We are nourished by our faith in Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, propelled by our Christian values of love and respect, and blessed by the family involvement that sets this school apart. In K-8, OLPH offers numerous programs in athletics and the fine arts (including music, dance and art), academic competitions, liturgies, and field trips, all which strive to cultivate the whole child. Our Preschool is a world of new friends. Your child will plunge into exciting avenues of learning, including the award-winning phonics program (Zoo-Phonics).

JULY 31 from 9 am to 12 pm in the school hall

That's the day our parents and grandparents can come down to the school and have the kids try on their new uniforms.  We also will sell SCRIP, which will apply to your 2010-2011 obligation.  There's registration for those who have not done so, a chance to sign up for volunteering, and a way for your kids to see their friends.  We will pass out the supply lists and the calendar.  It's a nice, convenient day to take care of all those little details.  And, of course, we are ALL EARS for your questions.

Your child doesn't attend OLPH yet?  You are welcome to come down and meet the office staff, as well as some of the parents.  Ask questions, etc.

Thank you, Thank you
Saturday night was wonderful, the food was great, the spirit of friendship everlasting!

Your kind words and gifts make my leaving difficult. Parents like you, are the reason all of us have stayed so long at OLPH.   If I can leave you with the last advice it would be:  Join every clique  you see at school, give for no other reason than to feel good in your heart.

Make your school family, your camping and barbeque buddies and every task you take on at school will be fun.  Take care of each other and keep those friends for the rest of your life.    Your children will change friends, and make new ones, but as adults we need to keep our close relationships.

Families are wonderful things, but friends get you through the valleys and hills of life.  Please know how much you all mean to me.  I leave you with a school full of gifts of time, talent and treasures, especially your new school Administrative  Secretary, Mrs. Huffman(30 years), her assistant, Mrs. Lopez (20 years) ,your Principal,  Mrs. Moore (30 years) and all the wonderful teachers and staff.

 Love.  Mrs. Ryan

P.S  Your donations for our new computer monitors(over $800) were wonderful and it’s a great start for next year.

SECURITY

QUESTION OF THE YEAR:  Why do my children have to sign in each day  before going to their after school classes?  This is part of security check in case of an emergency.  We will know that all children are accounted for.

Remember, we have begun a new sign out and pick up procedure for students that are involved in any extra-curricular program.

Those students will go directly to extended care at the 2:30 pm bell and sign in. At the 2:45 pm bell, when the teacher/moderators for each activity are ready, they will close the door on the parking lot side of the room and open the doors on the playground side for the students that will attend a particular activity in that class.

When the activity is finished, all students must then go back to extended care, sign in and wait for parents to sign them out. No students may be dismissed from the parking lot side. There is no extended day charge from 2:30 – 2:45 pm. Billing begins at 2:45 pm. This is for you children’s safety. In case of an emergency we will know where to find your child.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

PRINCIPAL'S LETTER

50 Years of Catholic Education 1959 through 2009 - "Team Work, Makes the Dream Work."
Volume # 21 Bulletin for the Week of June 7th, 2010

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of another school let us be reminded of all the blessings this year has had! We have memories of joy and pain, of great achievements as in our WASC Accreditation and maybe some disappointments. But our school community has pulled through this year together, praying, studying, laughing, caring about each other, and sharing all the ups and downs of our time together.

As this school year ends, we thank God for all the times and seasons, as this school year ends, with hearts filled with grateful amazement at everything He has done to help us to learn and be. Every time one of us extended a helping hand to another, every time we forgave each other, every time we put our trust in God, Jesus Christ, was present among us.

We have all grown in our love for Him and in our desire to walk in his ways. May we never forget all He has done for us.

Please remember that God never takes a summer vacation and that a vacation from school is not a vacation from God. Remember how important it is to continue to attend Mass on Sunday, even when you are visiting another place. Feel the spirit of the “Body of Christ” in any church you visit.

Sincerely in Christ,
Laurie Moore,
Principal

Blessings to our 2010, 8th grade graduates as they prepare for Graduation Thursday, June 10th. Remember them in your prayers as they play at Disneyland tomorrow. Thank you to our Kindergarten and 7th grade for making the last school Mass for the 8th grade so memorable and the Graduation Awards Breakfast so special.

We’re counting our blessings for fundraising. We want to remember the Fiesta Committee led by Lisa Hernardez and Magda McAdams for all of their help bringing in our share of the profit which was $23,364.06 Also we want to thank the School Board for all of their support and dedication all year and as they work to bring our Golf Tournament back September 17th, 2010 at Indian Hills Golf Club. All participants are welcome. Please contact the office for more information. Thank you to the PTO for all of the fundraising efforts especially the wonderful Mexican dinner at Open House and Registration Night. Thank you in advance for working so hard to make our end of the year picnic next Tuesday, June 15th, so very much fun. Everyone in Preschool through 7th grade is invited. The picnic will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m. with a campus clean up directed by our Student Council.

Congratulations to the 2010-2011 Student Council. Ryan Moore, President, Jacob Diaz, Vice-President, Krystal Robles, Secretary, Alex Silva, Treasurer, Alyssa Diaz, Commissioner of Athletics, Philip Falcone, Commissioner of Ecology, Zachary Wallace, Commissioner of Liturgy, Danielle Permann, Commissioner of Publicity and Commissioner of Safety to be elected in the fall of 2010, Audrey Migliore, Parish/School Liaison. A huge thank you to Mrs. Nurre, the Student Council Advisor, for making elections such a good learning experience.

What an outstanding job and participation in the Drama Club and at the Piano Recital. The Dinner Theater at Yoli’s Mexican Restaurant last week was fantastic. The students were well prepared and organized. Thank you, Mrs. Tenango and Mrs. Lord. The Music Recital at the Elks Club was truly a gift. The piano and guitar students did an outstanding job. A huge thank you to Ms Warner and Ms Nancy. What talent we have at Our Lady’s School in our extra-curricular programs. Thank you to those who use the gifts God has given them.

A wonderful send off this week for Mrs. Hopper and Mrs. Ryan who will be leaving us this year. The Preschool staff and parents had a wonderful lunch and good bye for Mrs. Hopper after 12 years dedication and service to Our Lady’s Preschool. On Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Mass, followed by a beautiful reception hosted by our PTO Board in the parish office garden, we said a special good bye to Mrs. Ryan for her 35 years of dedicated service to Our Lady’s School. They will truly be missed. We will have a goodbye and send off for Mrs. Hodge, Daycare Director, after 13 years of dedication to Our Lady’s children, on Monday, June 14th at 4:00 p.m. in Daycare. Yes, we will have a change in the office next year. Our administrative team will still consist of Mrs. Huffman and Mrs. Lopez. Mrs. Huffman will become the Administrative Assistant sending most of the bookkeeping to the Diocese Parish Assistant Office.
