Give Kids A Smile provides free, comprehensive dental care of underserved children ages 6-12. This is for children from families who cannot currently afford regular dental care for their children. This would typically be a family currently on Medicaid but still having difficulty getting regular appointments or a family having financial needs.
At each GKAS clinic, dental professionals and lay volunteers work together on behalf of these young patients. Children are treated by licensed, practicing dentists, assisted by hygienists and dental assistants. Treatment includes x-rays, exams, cleanings, sealants and fillings, crowns, etc if needed. In addition, each child receives TLC, dental supplies and dental health educational information.
For participating clinics, please visit www.ada.org/givekidsasmile.aspx. Please be sure to read their Appointment Procedures since all clinics are different. For general questions, you can also contact Monica Chaves, the GKAS coordinator at Tri-County Dental Society at 951.787.9700 ext 21.

We are going to try and be more environmentally aware and save trees. I need you to utilize the school web page and be signed up for PTO "In the loop" email. If you are not signed up, send an email to the office and be added to the list.
Our goal is to only send the envelope/bulletin home1x a month. We will be minimizing/eliminating the number of flyers/reminders going home in paper form. Between the calendar, webpage and email reminders, you should be well informed.
PTO will be updating the email address list to keep you informed and in the loop. If you do not wish to be included, you will need to email and request to be removed. This is an easy tool for communication reminders and will only be used for school information.
Extended care billing will be every two weeks. It will be sent with the oldest child of the family on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Bills need to be paid by Friday of the billing week. It is the parent’s responsibility to look or ask your child for this bill. Every student needs to have an emergency paper on file with the extended day care. Please fill out and return, even if you don’t Think you will use the service.
Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month.
When you start looking for these, they are everywhere!! Thank you to Mrs. Maltese who is patiently counting all of these and getting money or sports balls for our school. Please take the time to tear off the box tops and soup labels and send them to school. Last month we received a check for $370 for box tops. We thank the Parish Pantry for saving these items for us. If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Maltese at 750-9345.

There has been a change in the method for completing background checks for volunteers in schools in the Diocese of San Bernardino. As of mid-October, 2011, after revisiting the background check process, the Bishop has decided to follow a more convenient and economic avenue regarding background checks for volunteers. The Diocese has contracted with ScreeningONE to do volunteers' background checks. The cost is $30 for volunteers in schools. You will pick up the application at the school office.
As a result, the Live Scan fingerprint process is no longer required. There is one major exception: preschool parent volunteers must still do their background check using the Live Scan fingerprint process. This is done through the Social Services department of the State of California and is part of state law for preschools. Note that since the Live Scan results go through a different agency (i.e., the STATE department of Social Services rather than the Diocese), that parents will have to do a new (ScreeningONE) background check once they begin to volunteer at the K-8 level. This is because Social Services does not share the results of their Live Scans with the Diocese.
